The coastal village, though rural, is a hive of activity in the summer months and a favourite place for the Spanish to holiday, full of families and young people alike. The village has a couple of small supermarkets, a chemist, surf shop and internet cafe as well as numerous bars and restaurants.

From El Palmar it is only 9KM to the historic hilltop town of Vejer de la Frontera and only 6KM to the coastal town of Conil de la Frontera.

Aside from Conil and Vejer, you can also visit Zahora or Canos de Meca which are only 5 mins. drive and both have plenty of restaurants to try out. Drive 15 mins through the pine forest to the bustling fishing town of Barbate and just 40 mins. to Cadiz, the oldest city in Europe.
